Whelan's is one of my favourite places to go simply for the art gallery they house in the basement (aka toilets). Seriously, Dublin's budding artist community gathers down here with inspiration and sharpies and go to town. I'm not even being sarcastic, here. Some stuff is provocative, I dare say engaging. They like the bring their poet friends, too.
Besides... this place plays all the right music!
(I can't tell if it's one exclamation point or two, but does it really matter?)
